Now, more than ever, after Hurricane Maria our children and youth are in dire need of healthy food and snacks and educational experiences. With a lot of schools closed, vulnerable children in our communities aren't receiving much-needed nutritional and educational services. National emergencies like hurricanes add several stressors to the mix: distribution issues may make food scarce, or the lack of connectivity may prevent families from using their benefit cards.
You can ensure our children's food safety with a donation to our Hot Meal Project. At a rate of $5 per meal, a donation will allow us to serve 20,000 nutritional hot meals. We know that, for too many of our children, the meal we give them while they are with us is the last one of the day. Without it, they would go to bed hungry.
With the Hot Meal Project our daily attendance will increase and the learning outcomes of our participants will improve in a very critical moment for our children. Your donation will have a ripple effect. It will create jobs, since it will allow Boys & Girls Clubs to hire personnel to prepare and distribute meals and will allow us to acquire nutritious food at a local level, helping businesses and contributing to the recovery of our economy.
