Over the last couple of decades it has been recognized that as educators, parents and community leaders we have a responsibility to ensure that we provide educational opportunities to our children which build on and extend the ways in which they learn and communicate. The challenge for us is to embrace, and respond to, not just the technology, but the extraordinary pace of change. We can’t underestimate how rapidly things are changing and we need to make sure no opportunity passes us by to improve learning outcomes.
Beyond the Classroom is an After School Enrichment Program designed to give children a truly enriching experience as they will be given different opportunities to take part in several activities and classes that are increasingly left out of the normal school curriculum. To complement the increasing emphasis on text-book based learning in schools, children at Beyond the Classroom will receive hands-on experience that is project-based and emergent in nature. They will continue their journey in learning beyond the boundaries of the classroom and also take field trips.
With a range of arts and athletics programs, opportunities for community service and peer leadership, and chances to direct their interests to personal expriences, learning Beyond the Classroom is where youth can realize their full potential.
