It's been a busy holiday season for the Between the Lines committee!
Our second and third readings were held over the last couple of months. 18 fathers at Santiam Correctional Institute read to 26 children in November and 21 mothers read to 33 children at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility last weekend. Our packages for the Santiam reading and our Fall Coffee Creek readings were ordered, gift wrapped and mailed in time for the holidays, 82 kids in all! The parents expressed gratitude that their reading is allowing them to send a Christmas gift to their child.
We also held a bookfair at Barnes & Noble in early December where we read stories to children, did holiday crafts with them and shared our mission.
We are incredibly thankful to you for supporting Between the Lines' efforts in breaking the cycle of incarceration, strengthening family ties, and promoting early childhood literacy. We look forward to sharing more positive results with you throughout the year!
