Between the Lines Fall 2013

By Deanna Seibold | Community VP

Between the Lines is off to a great start for the 2013-2014 Junior League year. This year Between the Lines will continue to work closely with Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville and Santiam Correctional Institution in Salem. The reading dates have already been scheduled for the year and we look forward to reaching out to more children in the process.

Our first reading was a couple of weeks ago at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility where we had 29 mothers reading to 56 children. In November we will be heading to Santiam Correctional Institute to read with the fathers. After Santiam we'll order the books and gift wrap them for the kids. They will have them in time for the holidays. Many mothers at Coffee Creek expressed gratitude that their reading is allowing them to send a Christmas gift to their child.

We are incredibly thankful to you for supporting Between the Lines' efforts in breaking the cycle of incarceration, strengthening family ties, and promoting early childhood literacy. We look forward to sharing more positive results with you throughout the coming year!
