2025: A year of neighbors helping neighbors

In 2025, furniture poverty hit an all-time high in our region, but so did our community's response. Everyone stepped up to rise to the occasion. Volunteer hours were up 11%, financial donations up 12%, and furniture donations up 50% compared to last year. Together, we furnished 3,405 homes, served 8,063 neighbors, and redistributed 91,303 items across our Portland, Tigard, and Gresham locations.

One massive milestone of 2025 was opening our third furniture bank in Gresham, bringing services directly to East County families who previously faced long travel distances to reach us. Combined with our expanded capacity, this reduced appointment wait times across all our locations by 90%, from nine weeks down to just one. We also launched a mattress recycling partnership that diverted 1,764 unusable mattresses from landfills, and co-founded Furnish Together, a new national coalition of furniture banks working to strengthen the field and elevate furniture access as an essential part of housing stability.

None of this happens without the people behind it. One client, Dee, was referred to our Tigard furniture bank after a series of difficult challenges finally gave way to stable housing. As she selected items for her new home, a camouflage recliner stood out. It reminded her of her late husband. "I like everything you guys have, and I'm very grateful to be able to come here," she told our staff. Stories like Dee's are why we do this work: furniture isn't just furniture. It's comfort, stability, and a sense of home.

Thank you for making stories like this possible. We couldn't do this work without our community. Read more in our 2025 annual report!
