By providing essential and critical household items like a bed to sleep on and pots to cook with, Community Warehouse is able to help families access the tools they need for self-sustainability and ease unnecessary burdens that prohibit their future success.
The Portland Metro’s housing crisis has hit a critical level. With local counties and cities devoting resources to addressing this problem, Community Warehouse is proving to be an important part of the solution to housing stability.
With the increased push to house those in need, the need for our services has only grown. Last year alone, we increased the number of people served by 64%, totaling 5,417 individuals (2,189 of them children).
The importance of providing furniture with housing is being recognized by more people. Clients themselves are choosing to remain in shelter housing to await an appointment with Community Warehouse rather than move into an empty space.
Our client John had this to say when he came to visit our Warehouse:
"It's been a rough year, so I'm very grateful for this. The donors giving their furniture, all of you here, everyone's been so gracious to allow me to generate some hope and determination for next year being a better year and finding a little more inner peace and inner joy"
With support like yours, we plan to increase the number of clients we serve from 55 a week to 75 a week. This will mean more families will have a place to eat, play, work and connect. With your help, we can provide happiness, housing security, well-being, and improved quality of life for neighbors in need.
Thank you so much for your support!
