Sonya spent most of the pandemic year living in her car. Her sons, ages 17 and 8, had to stay with their father.
“When I wasn’t stable, their dad wasn’t allowing me to have them as much, so it made me anxious, not being able to be with them whenever they wanted to be with me. It was a heartwrencher.”
Sonya is excited about moving to an apartment, with the help of local volunteers who referred her to the Warehouse. She now has two jobs, but without Community Warehouse, she’d be moving into an empty apartment. Furnishings will help make Sonya’s apartment a home.
“It’s comforting to know I don’t have to worry about sleeping on the floor anymore… having a place to put my clothes in, a dresser instead of just duffel bags.”
Now she has all the essentials at home. Her experience at Community Warehouse reminded her that when you need help, people will be there for you: “It’s the circle. It’s the love bubble. It doesn’t end.”
