Telo, our majestic lion, continues to live his best life at DAKTARI, proud, healthy, and full of personality! This season he reminded us once again that caring for a lion is never boring.
We recently planned a big clean-up of his enclosure to freshen everything for the summer. As always, safety comes first, so we set up a smaller holding area for Telo while our volunteers could clean his camp. Well, Telo had very different plans. He took one look at the new space and firmly said, “No, thank you.”
We tried everything: favourite treats, kind words, patience, and more patience. But Telo is not only strong, he is incredibly intelligent. He quickly understood what we wanted and simply refused to cooperate. After several hours of gentle persuasion, we admitted defeat and decided to postpone.
The following week, however, Telo seemed to change his mind completely. With his royal confidence, he walked straight into the area as if to say, “Alright, let’s get this done.” Thanks to his good mood, we were finally able to give his entire enclosure a full clean and refresh. It is now in perfect condition, fit for a king.
Telo continues to thrive. His coat is shining, his appetite strong, and his daily roars still echo proudly through the bush. Every morning, he greets us with calm eyes and quiet dignity, a reminder of the beauty and strength that come from love, respect, and patience.
