Another Amazing Day

By Emma Fleming | Grants & Fundraising Coordinator

On 24th October fifteen of the young people we support came together for an amazing day or pampering and beauty.  The day, hosted by Ricoh UK at the offices in London, gave the young people the opportunity to meet other young women, of a similar age and with similar experiences to build new relationships that can help them through the bad times and the good.

During the day the young people are given beauty items, and taught how to apply them by experts.  They are pampered by mancurist and massage therapists and given the opportunity to relax and take time away from the stresses and strains of their daily lives.

The day was also supported by Ricoh employees, who provided lunch for the young people, and spent time with them talking about their careers and working experiences, which has has an additional benefit of helping to motivate the young people and help them think about returning to education or employment.

‘Thank you so much for sending this through, it really was a lovely day for them, they looked amazing and there were lots of smiles as they left.  Such a humbling experience for me, the courage these kids have is inspiring. I sat and chatted to the father of the girl in the red and white striped for ages and he was telling me that she's been in hospital for 3 months and that this was her first big trip out, he was choked talking about it, he's so proud of her.  Made me well up I can tell you.’  Ronni Watson, Ricoh
