Self-care isn’t a luxury for young people living with and beyond cancer—it’s a necessity. Treatment can leave long-lasting emotional, physical, and psychological effects: fatigue, anxiety, sensory overload, changes in appearance, and a loss of control over everyday routines. Many young people tell us that they struggle to recognise themselves or know how to look after their wellbeing during and after treatment.
Your support has allowed us to deliver a series of self-care–focused events that give young people practical tools and time carved out just for themselves—often for the first time in a long time.
Breathworks: Online Mindfulness & Breathing Session
In partnership with the Ella Dawson Foundation, wellness practitioners guided young people through breathwork and grounding techniques they can use whenever they feel overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally drained.
These skills are simple, accessible, and can be used anywhere—during appointments, on treatment days, or in moments of stress. Young people told us they left the session feeling calmer, more in control, and better equipped to face the challenges ahead.
Indu Skincare Workshop
Cancer treatment can have a profound impact on skin—causing dryness, sensitivity, irritation, and changes in texture. For many young people, these side effects affect confidence and self-esteem at an already vulnerable time.
Our generous partners, Indu, sent each participant a full set of skincare products before the online workshop. During the session, young people were taught how to care for their skin gently and safely, creating a moment of calm and learning that felt nurturing rather than clinical.
For many, it wasn’t just about skincare—it was about rebuilding confidence in their appearance.
Bubble Tea Making Session
While not a traditional form of self-care, this fun, creative event encouraged young people to take a moment purely for themselves. All ingredients were posted out ahead of time, and young people logged on together to follow the steps, chat, laugh, and enjoy the process of making something they could simply enjoy.
Sometimes self-care is about joy, lightness, and connection—and that is exactly what this session provided.
Your support has enabled young people affected by cancer to learn new wellbeing tools, reconnect with their bodies, meet others who understand, and take time to nurture themselves.
Thank you for helping them rebuild confidence and find moments of peace, comfort, and joy during incredibly challenging times.
