Old School Versus New School

By Marin | Curriculum Developer

TALENT is kicking off its new Fall 2012 Semester. Practice sessions are building toward the semester-end tournament: its going to be new school versus old school. May the best team win!

New School

This season has expanded ABC's partnerships to 2 new schools. The first new school, Qing Hong Lan School has doubled-up on volunteers, boasting 8 rookie coaches for the school's 21 fresh players. The second, Shu Ren school carries a deep talent pool in its team of 28 players - to be coached by 4 additional first-time volunteers!

Old School

Veteran teams include past champions from Peng Ying School, where 4 new coaches have been brought on to train the 26 payer team of mostly returning players. Zhen Hua School is also returning with a small, but well-seasoned, team of 13 players to be trained by 4 volunteer coaches - some of whom are also returning to TALENT for a second season.

Competition: The Fifth 'C'

TALENT trains girls in poor, marginal Beijing communities to be Caring, Courageous, Confident, and Committed team players on the court and in life. Each training session pairs basketball skills training and one of the 4Cs to empower players to make better decisions and display strong individual conduct within a team. The court is where the competitive process challenges girls to put into play their new bball skills - in addition to the life skills that will serve them and their future teams off the court in the game of life. Competition brings it all together - and in this game the players always win!

  • GOOD LUCK PLAYERS!      TO BOTH OLD AND NEW SCHOOL TEAMS
  • SHOUT OUT TO FANS!        LOOK FOR NEW DETAILS FRESH FROM THE COURT
