Over the past six months, Tooro Basketball Academy (TBA) has continued to grow its mission of developing young talent, promoting teamwork, discipline, and using basketball as a tool for positive social impact. The academy successfully organized competitive events, community outreach activities, and youth development programs.
Training & Player Development:
Free basketball training sessions were conducted every Sunday for academy children aged 8–14 years, including both boys and girls. The sessions were fun and inclusive, guided by our Model of Introduction and Participation for All, Retain and Develop, ensuring every child had the opportunity to learn, enjoy the game, remain engaged, and grow. Training focused on basic basketball skills, teamwork, discipline, physical fitness, and character development, with coaches emphasizing both sports excellence and personal growth among the children.
Second Successful Season of Tooro Kids League (September):
Tooro Basketball Academy successfully organized and hosted the second season of the Tooro Kids League in September, providing a fun, competitive, and educational platform for young players to showcase their talents. Participation increased compared to the previous season, showing the growing interest in youth basketball in the region. The league promoted fair play, teamwork, confidence, and good sportsmanship, with strong support from parents and community members, helping to strengthen community engagement.
TBA 3x3 Slam Jam – Kids Basketball Event:
At the end of November, Tooro Basketball Academy introduced an exciting new event, the TBA 3x3 Slam Jam Kids Basketball Tournament, which featured fast-paced 3x3 basketball and gave children the chance to experience a modern and fun style of the game. The tournament encouraged creativity, teamwork, fun, and healthy competition, helped identify emerging talent, and increased excitement and love for basketball within the academy.
Community Outreach – Visit to Tooro Babies Home:
As part of our community responsibility efforts, Tooro Basketball Academy children visited Tooro Babies Home, a caring facility that provides shelter, support, and nurturing for vulnerable children. During the visit, the academy children shared gifts, spent time with the babies, and showed love and care. The experience helped instill values of compassion, kindness, and giving back, while teaching the children the importance of social responsibility beyond basketball.
Thanks to the generous financial support of our donors and partners, Tooro Basketball Academy has been able to conduct its development programs, leading to increased participation and interest in basketball among children in the Tooro region, successful organization of competitive and developmental youth basketball events, strengthened community relationships through outreach and charity activities, and continued positive behavioral and skill development among academy children.
