Celebration is Key

At Ratanang Day Care Centre, we remain committed to creating a joyful, safe, and stimulating environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. We implement a variety of educational, recreational, and developmental activities aimed at supporting the holistic development of the children in our care.

Through themed classroom learning, physical development programmes, practical life skills activities, and social engagement opportunities, we encouraged children to participate actively in age-appropriate learning experiences. We continue to celebrate learning, participation, achievement, and togetherness as part of building confident, healthy, and socially connected children.

Sports Event Participation

In March, we proudly participated in a sports event held at the Indoor Sports Centre. The event brought together day care centres in Mabopane that form part of the Direlang Bana Forum.

The sports event focused on promoting physical activity, teamwork, confidence-building, and healthy child development through fun and engaging activities. Our children participated in several age-appropriate activities, including:

• Motorbike racing
• Bean bag activities
• Colour sorting
• Egg-and-spoon race
• Cone sorting
• Ball sorting
• Sack race

Through participation in these activities, we encouraged children to remain physically active while developing coordination, teamwork, confidence, and social interaction skills. We are proud to report that Ratanang Day Care Centre achieved first place in one of the races and brought home a medal, creating a proud and memorable moment for both learners and staff.

Gardening Activities

This year we introduced children to gardening activities through the establishment of our new gardening area. With the help of our inhouse Agriculture facilitator who demonstrated how to prepare planting beds for vegetables. This activity is also teaches the importance of growing food and maintaining healthy eating habits.

The purpose of this initiative is to help children understand where vegetables come from and how they grow, while also giving them a sense of ownership and responsibility. Through this activity, we introduced learners to nature and environmental awareness at an early age.The activity also encouraged curiosity, cooperation, and active participation among the children.

Birthday Celebrations

Still keeping to the theme of celebration, we celebrated the birthdays of children born during the first quarter of the year (January to March). During the celebrations, children participated in singing, dancing, and sharing refreshments and goodies together.

These celebrations continue to play an important role in promoting emotional and social well-being by helping children feel valued, included, and celebrated within the learning environment.

Easter Egg Hunt Celebration

As part of our celebration activities, we hosted a fun and engaging Easter Egg Hunt for the children at the Centre. Learners participated in searching for hidden Easter eggs around the play area while enjoying music, games, and group activities.

The Easter celebration created excitement and joy among the children and encouraged active participation, teamwork, and social interaction. Children were rewarded with treats and small prizes, making the experience both memorable and enjoyable.

The event also strengthened relationships between learners and teachers while creating a warm and festive learning environment.

Our activities were productive, engaging, and development-focused. Through educational themes, sports participation, gardening activities, and birthday celebrations, we continued to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment that supports children’s cognitive, physical, emotional, and social development.
