Report on Back to school program
By K.R.Raju - Project Director

Final Report: VDC started this Child Learning Centres in September 2019 and completed in August 2020. During the COVID 19 period, we are unable to conduct the Child Learning Centres (CLCs). The regular schools are in the process of new admission and still schools are not open. Middle classes and going on online classes. The Government announced that the higher class students are all pass.

The second wave of COVID 19 has highly affected the villages. Almost in each village 10 to 20 people is affected and taking treatment. We serve the people, along with our other community development activities, our volunteers are paying visits to few students home and guiding them to continue their education. Due to the prolonging of COVID 19, our volunteers’ are guiding the students and their parents in preventing activities and other safety measures. We are forced to change our goal post from education to awareness building and relief activities on prevention of COVID-19 among children and their parents. We created awareness on the importance of using face mask, hand wash, social distancing and importance of using sanitaizers. VDC provided them with three-layer fabric masks prepared by our experienced women tailors of our women Self Help Groups (SHGs) at free of cost. VDC also collected donations in cash and in-kind and distributed rice, groceries, and vegetables to the families of our target children families. We are continuing the mobile counseling for students and their parents. VDC advised the parents to provide nutrient food to improve their immune system of children during their stay at home and make the children enjoy the family life with their family members. In villages people closed their doors even to their neighbourers due to afraid of COVID 19. Due to continuous lockdown, still people are not turned to normal life. Still we have to pay the honorarium and rent for schools. Once we get the grant from GlobalGiving we will complete the same. We continue our services in the villages. On this critical situation, VDC once again expresses its gratitude to those donors who contributed a lot to make our program objectives to get materialized.
