Naznin is an energetic lady working as a counselor in the Paediatric department at Dr K Zaman BNSB Eye Hospital.
Naznin counsels child patients and their guardians under the Qatar Creating Vision project on the uses of medicine, therapies, exercises, surgeries, costs, and hospital facilities.
Every patient who is registered in the outpatient department of the Paediatric department visits Naznin and other counselors. Every day, 120 to 130 patients visit the paediatric department, including little babies with Retinopathy of Prematurity.
Because of the counselling guardians receive, they are less worried and more informed on their children's conditions and the importance of post-operation care and check ups. This is also one of the reasons why the follow up rate at this hospital is high!
Naznin is doing her best and is very satisfied with her job. She says, "eye care service is a noble profession to serve people especially the children so I want to continue my job for a long time."
Every member of the eye care team is important - from doctors and nurses to technicians, counsellors and community health workers. This is why Orbis works with entire medical teams, including hospital management, to save sight.
And thanks to the support of donors like Qatar Fund for Development and friends like you, we are training and inspiring healthcare professionals, one at a time. Thank you!
