Dear Friends,
In October 2010, you donated to adolescent programming sponsored by the Pilot Street Project / Coalition for Refugee Resettlement. Your funding helped the Star City Soccer Foundation to hire a community liaison from the Somali Bantu community to work with parents, teens, and tutors in its after school program for immigrant and refugee youth. The participating youth have shown significant gains in their schoolwork, and are scoring on par or above their classmates at William Fleming High School.
I am writing today to request your support once again. The Pilot Street Project / Coalition for Refugee Resettlement has another campaign through Global Giving during the month of April. Our focus for this month is Capacity Building programs, ranging from basic adult ESL to pre-GED, college preparation workshops, and the Grower's Academy for small scale farmers. These programs support intergenerational educational support within the refugee communities in Roanoke. Please visit our project page on the Global Giving site, read about what we are doing in the capacity building realm, and consider offering your continued support: http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/buildingcapacity-psp/
Thank you!
