We have used the funds generously donated to us through GlobalGiving to fund Young Adult and Adult Bowling Leagues. The Bowling leagues started 12 years ago for children, but as we all know, children grow up! We found that the participants (all of whom are diagnosed with Autism and other related developmental disabilities) wanted to continue to attend our Bowling program, even though they have technically "aged out".
With the funds we received through Global Giving, we have been able to offer two groups this spring. One group for young adults and another for adults. The group has grown from one group with 6-8 participants to 4 different groups! Friendships are fostered at these programs, and participants work on social skills, turn-taking, as well as math skills in logging their score. Fun is had by all, and we are extremely grateful for all of the support!
It is truly making a difference in the lives of the participants and their families!
