Meet Nourhan from Egypt!

Hello-

Thank you for your continued support of Atlas Corps! It is thanks to your involvement that we are able to grow our diverse and driven community of over 750 Fellows from 95 countries.

Because of supporters like you, Atlas Corps is able to welcome Nourhan (Egypt, Host: The Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy (TIMEP)) who will be joining Atlas Corps Class 37 on October 1st! Nourhan is not only an experienced and skilled journalist, but has taken her career a step further by completing her law degree at Cairo University. Throughout her career, Nourhan has dedicated herself to human rights issues, media freedoms, judicial affairs, and significant court verdict in Egypt. During her most recent work, she was as a reporter for a multitude of reputable Egypt news outlets, including Mada Masr, where she compiled daily press clips for the Morning Digest, Aswat Masriya, and Daily News Egypt. Nourhan has conducted in depth socio-legal research and archive collection strategies at the Law and Society Research Unit at The American University in Cairo to compile legal documents for the digital legal archive, Manshurat Qanuneya. Nourhan has followed her passion for legal and judicial development in Egypt, her work has consistently strived to make legal and media affairs in Egypt open and free.

Meet Christine (Kenya)...and get ready for #July18

Hello!

Thank you for your ongoing support of Atlas Corps! Thanks to YOUR involvment, we have grown our community to more than 700 social change professionals from 94 countries - wow!

Our community includes Christine (Kenya, Host: Bronxworks) who serves in New York. She recently shared her Fellow experiences as part of the Atlas Corps Summer Celebration on June 13! You can watch the video here and read some highlights below:

Last year, I was accepted for this amazing Fellowship. During the Fellowship, I grew older and learned that the world is an amazing place to explore.

I also realized that the world is broken. I am here to make a difference. This Fellowship was my opportunity to make a difference through this diverse community.

Oh how I have grown...I have grown professional, personally, spiritually...and my mom thinks I have grown physically;) It has been a life changing experience.

As Fellows, we have sent a beautiful message to the world. While we may come from different parts of the world, talk different, even worship differently, we all care and deeply appreciate each other. Fellows, your passion for change is contagious...like any great army, we stick together. We support one another. We fight for one another.

Thank you for teaching me that we are stronger together.

Meet Chris from Nigeria...

Chris (Nigeria, Class 34, Host: Susan G Komen)

Hello!

Thank you! When you invest in Atlas Corps, you support talented global professionals like Chris from Nigeria who just started his fellowship at Susan G. Komen.

Chris is a public health practitioner with six years of experience in community and public health and development. As a Public Health Officer with Pro-Health International Nigeria, he has contributed to strengthening the public health emergency preparedness system in three international airports and two land crossings in Nigeria. His work includes advocacy and technical assistance to the public health institution in Nigeria on Global Health Security, implementation of the International Health Regulations at the points of entry and prevention, detection and response to disease outbreaks within the country. Prior to taking on the role of Public Health Officer, he worked as a Program Officer where he designed, planned and coordinated medical interventions in rural communities in 20 states across Nigeria. As a medical laboratory scientist, he worked with a USAID-funded hospital in the treatment, management and care of rural dwellers living with HIV/AIDs and Tuberculosis. Through these experiences, he has developed strong capacity building, leadership development, fundraising and project management skills. Chris has a deep-seated interest in community health and social empowerment.

In his Fellow role at Susan G Komen, Chris will be the Breast Cancer Fellow. Chris will provide support to Komen’s Global and National Capital Region (NCR) Programs. This includes assisting with the maintenance of a website for the NCR Program and developing an external communication plan.
