This month, SoyMás celebrated an important milestone: the graduation of the first 20 young mothers from our Atacama workforce development cohort in northern Chile.

Over the past 10 months in 2025, participants completed intensive training focused on technical skills, digital literacy, employability, and personal development. Many of these women entered the program facing significant barriers, including interrupted education, unstable employment, and limited economic opportunities. Through mentorship, psychosocial support, and specialized training, they built new confidence and professional pathways for themselves and their families.

The Atacama region presents both challenges and opportunity. While northern Chile is home to major industrial and mining activity, many young women remain excluded from these growing sectors. This program was designed to help bridge that gap by preparing participants with practical workforce skills aligned with local labor market needs.

For several graduates, this was the first time completing a formal educational process since becoming mothers. Beyond technical training, the program strengthened leadership, resilience, and long-term career aspirations.

Today, many graduates are already exploring internships, continuing education opportunities, and formal employment pathways. Their success demonstrates how access to education, support systems, and workforce preparation can transform lives and help break cycles of poverty.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who made this first cohort possible. Your support is helping create new opportunities for young mothers and building a stronger future for families in the Atacama region.
