Healthy Lives Through Improved Sanitation
During this reporting period, Good Thinkers Organization (GTO-Pakistan) conducted an awareness session at Al-Khair Complex, Kasur, focusing on local sanitation challenges and the important role citizens can play in improving sanitation services.
The session engaged 44 young people from diverse backgrounds. Participants were sensitized about the connection between poor sanitation, environmental pollution and preventable health problems. The GTO-Pakistan team encouraged them to adopt responsible sanitation practices and take community-led action to improve conditions in their neighbourhoods.
Participants also received practical guidance on initiating advocacy efforts on a self-help basis, including documenting sanitation problems, engaging elected representatives, meeting relevant government officials and collectively demanding sustainable solutions. The session emphasized that meaningful and lasting improvement requires cooperation among citizens, public representatives and responsible government departments.
Although the project received no financial support during this reporting period, GTO-Pakistan continued the activity through its limited internal resources and voluntary efforts. Financial constraints remain a significant barrier to expanding community outreach and supporting practical sanitation interventions.
With donor support, GTO-Pakistan hopes to engage more young people, strengthen citizen-led advocacy and work with relevant authorities to achieve cleaner communities and healthier lives across Kasur.
