Thanks to your support, Arts For All successfully launched its annual Audience Project Tour. This year’s production is a captivating interpretation of The Emperor’s New Clothes, which originated at Infinity Theatre Company in Annapolis, Maryland, this past summer. We will tour this show to over 2,500 under-served children at nine elementary schools in New York City this fall. For many of our student audience members, this will be their first experience seeing live theater.
Our incredibly talented company is thrilled to have begun performances and has especially enjoyed the excitement of the student audiences. This year’s company includes New York actors Corrado Alicata, Mieko Gavia, Raphael Schklowsky, and Samantha Whitbeck. We have a fantastic production team for this show that consists of Author, E. Gray Simmons III; Director, Robin Cannon Colwell; Production Manager, Meredith Smart; Scenic Designer, Andrew Rasmussen; Original Music, Clayton Colwell; and additional production support from Simon Trumble, Simone Cipriano, and Brennan O’Rourke. Thanks to your contribution, Arts For All is able to introduce live theatre into the lives of thousands of under-served children in the New York City area.
So far, the student audiences have absolutely loved The Emperor’s New Clothes. Some students enjoyed the show so much that they asked if they could “see it again tomorrow.” Others told the actors and production team, “That was AWESOME,” “the play was so great!” and “thank you so much for bringing us the play.”
An elementary school teacher whose students saw the show shared with us,
“ I just want to thank you again for bringing the show to my school. It was amazing and the kids really enjoyed it. Looking forward to working with Arts For All again.”
In addition to the performances, Arts For All created a study guide for the students to explore with their classroom teachers after the show. This will allow for deeper understanding of key themes raised within the play. This study guide includes a summary of the performance, a fun crown-making activity, and much more.
With your help, Arts For All continues to serve thousands of in-need New York City children by providing them with access to artistic opportunities which they might not receive otherwise. Thank you once again for helping Arts For All present The Emperor’s New Clothes this fall and spread the joy of live theater to our young audience members!
