On Monday, we began our first two-week interval of intensive training for orphaned and abandoned youth in Daru. Our batik students have received their own small stoves for melting wax, their first three yards of blank fabric, their own set of rubber gloves, and four different powdered dyes for the course. Our screen-printing students have each received their own frame, four colors of permanent fabric paint, four blank t-shirts, and two yards of silk for screening for the course.
Attached you'll find the syllabus for our first two weeks of batik training. We still need to raise $4,950 to reach our goal, complete our programming, and provide our students with the graduation supply kits that will help prepare them for their new careers in the arts. Please share our project, and invite your friends and family to join us as partners in our work. Thank you so much for your continued support, and we look forward to sharing more news and pictures with you at the end of this month!
