The purpose of this report is to bring our project reporting up to date for GlobalGiving for our 2010 Summer Arts Camp.During the transition from our 2010 Camp to 2011 Camp we did not realize that we had to continue file status reports for as long as the project was listed on GlobalGiving. We have continued to post this project to provide donors with a history of the Summer Arts Camp.
As is the case with all of our projects, one of our main goals is to create a successful program segment that can stand alone as well as provide a base for continuing action. The momentum created by the Summer Arts Camp series that began in 2009, carried into 2010, serving underprivileged children . Although demand for a 2011 camp was high from the children, funding challenges nearly stopped the forward momentum of the Camp.
Fortunately, in Spring 2011, we received good news of last minute funding that would allow a scaled down and shorter version of the Camp to proceed and we determined that we would be able to plan to host 60-70 student campers for an abbreviated 6 week session. As before, the Camp will host children from the Phnom Penh Municipal Orphanage, as well as children from a local AIDS hospice and children from families in Kasumisou Foundation’s own AIDS Patient Family Support Program.
We are very pleased that 2010 Campers were be able continue to build their skills in the performing arts as well as learning team building in 2011 Camp. Discipline, self esteem and an understanding of their own social responsibility to “ give back” and a lot of plain old fashioned fun will round out a program of traditional Cambodian dance and music.
We wish to thank all of our supporters for their generous donations that have made this program possible!
We will be implementing a similar program this summer. Continue to follow our Summer Arts Camps and consider making a donation here: http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/summer-arts-camp-for-orphans-in-cambodia/.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
If you donate to this project or have donated to this project, you can receive an email when this project posts a report. You can also subscribe for reports without donating.
