2017 was a year of growth and change at Albertina Kerr.
The 6,000 square foot expansion of our Child Crisis Psychiatric Care Facility, made possible by our Community Promise Campaign, enabled a more than 20% increase in care for children and teens experiencing a mental health crisis this past year.
2017 saw the opening of two new group homes, increasing our number of homes serving children and adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) to 51 and increasing the number of children and adults living in our homes to 230.
We similarly saw significant growth in our Outpatient Mental Health Services for children and teens, as well as our Employment and Community Integration Services for adults with IDD.
Words cannot adequately express our gratitude for the generous support that has made this growth possible.
After months of research and reflection, our leadership and staff adopted a new strategic plan in October 2017. We are thrilled with the proposect of bringing this plan to fruition over the next four years for the benefit of the people we serve.
Central to the plan will be to build a thriving workforce at Albertina Kerr. We know that a strong, stable workforce is essential to provide the highest quality of care to the vulnerable people we serve.
Additional strategic objectives stemming from the plan include continued strengthening of the quality of our programming, ensuring financial stability in an evolving political and economic landscape, and expanding public awareness of our mission. We look forward to sharing new initiatives arising from the plan as they are crafted in early 2018.
As we reflect on 2017, we are grateful to our extraordinary staff members, board leadership, partners and suporters for making all our progress possible. We look forward to 2018 and beyond with anticipation for all we will accomplish to strengthen our work to benefit the people we serve, as well as the broader Oregon and regional community.
