Since our last update, Marine Education Initiative (MEI) has officially moved operations to its new 4-acre campus in West Boca Raton and begun actively building out the site to support expanded food production, environmental education, and community impact.
Development of the new campus is already underway, with greenhouse infrastructure, production systems, and educational spaces being designed to support long-term growth. Once completed, the site will serve as a regional hub for sustainable agriculture education, workforce development, and fresh food distribution throughout South Florida.
At the same time, MEI’s aquaponics and hydroponics operations are producing fresh food more consistently and efficiently, allowing the organization to strengthen partnerships with food pantries, meal programs, and community kitchens serving food-insecure families.
MEI is also continuing to integrate education directly into its food production efforts. Students and youth participants are actively involved in cultivation, harvesting, and sustainability education, connecting hands-on learning with real community impact.
Looking ahead, MEI remains focused on increasing weekly food donation capacity, improving operational efficiency, and expanding partnerships that create lasting solutions for food security and environmental resilience across South Florida.
