Launching a new SEN course
This September, Apps for Good are excited to be launching a new course, designed for students with Special Education Needs (SEN).
The course was developed following feedback from Special School teachers that they didn’t have access to age appropriate resources to teach digital skills. In response to this, we have adapted our standard 10 week App Development course, for secondary school students with mild to moderate learning disabilities. Throughout the course, students will work in teams to design, build and pitch an app to solve a problem which they care about. In taking the course, students will learn key technology, digital and employability skills that will help them transition into the workplace on finishing education.
We are piloting the new course with three schools this academic term. Feedback from teachers will help us develop the course further, and we hope to be able to offer the course to all Special Schools across the UK in 2022.
