A few months ago, Animal Aid Abroad (AAA) began an appeal on GlobalGiving to save the donkeys of Gaza. These animals have been caught up in the intense conflict through no fault of their own. Many have been injured, abandoned and deeply traumatised as a result.
We are so touched by everyone who has responded to our appeal so far and are extremely grateful for your caring donations. Your financial gifts are helping to rescue Gazan donkeys in dire need and are providing them with shelter, veterinary treatment, medicines and nourishing food. They are receiving the dedicated care they need to recover from trauma.
Thanks to your generous donations through GlobalGiving, we have been able to work together with our partner group in Israel, Starting Over, to rescue even more donkeys. The Starting Over team are currently caring for 34 donkeys from Gaza, bringing the total number of donkeys rescued from this region to 174.
One donkey was recently rescued from Hebron market in the West Bank of Palestine. He arrived with a severely injured leg and will require surgery, but the team are hopeful he will have a positive outcome.
It has been heart-warming for staff at Starting Over to witness the transformation of these rescued donkeys and see their unique personalities emerge once they finally realise they are safe. These precious moments would not be possible without your invaluable support.
With your donations, AAA will continue to assist Starting Over to rescue more donkeys from Gaza and provide them with everything they need to heal from their physical injuries and psychological distress.
Due to your compassion, these donkeys have been given a second chance. The chance at a life free from suffering, pain and fear, and one filled with joy and hope instead. With your help, we are determined to keep saving these special souls and give them the love, care and safety they deserve.
