Adam is only 18 years old, but he lived in the USA, travelled through Central America and also Palestine. He is also part of the Amnesty International project "Read the living book and get rid of prejudice".
Adam is gay. He is also a living book that spreads the tolerance and helps to get rid of prejudice among children at school. Being a part of this project, his task is to retell his life story, offering the audience another view on the issue.
When he was young, he knew he was a homosexual. He did not think he was normal. It had changed, when he and his mother moved to the USA. He saw what tolerance means there. At school, there were sitting Muslim and Hindu kids together. They did not sepearte themselves from each other. They were friends, even though they were different. Thanks to the liberal view in the USA, he realized his sexuality maybe isn‘t such a problem.
However, after returning to Slovakia he experienced several cases of intolerance, even acts of hatred. That’s why he became a living book - to try to change people's view. Travelling experiences was also an aspect that helped him in this task. He decided to go abroad. In New York he earned some money on construction site and then he went for a three-month trip through Central America. He also traveled to Palestine. He saw how people of different countries live. They might be poor, living on 1USD per day and, yet, they are willing to share with strangers. These are the powerful moments that stay with him forever.
