Americares is responding to the catastrophic flooding that struck central Nepal, causing widespread loss of life, displacement and damage to homes, roads, bridges and health facilities. Americares emergency response experts are on the ground in Nepal to assess the health needs of survivors in the hardest hit communities. We are also rushing emergency funding to partner organizations and stand ready to provide medicines and relief supplies.
A catastrophic flash flood in central Nepal caused widespread loss of life, displacement and destruction of homes, roads, bridges and health infrastructure. Thousands of people need urgent assistance, while damaged transportation and communications systems have left some communities isolated. Limited access to health care, unsafe water, poor sanitation and overcrowding increase the risk of injury, disease outbreaks, food insecurity and mental health challenges.
Americares has deployed an emergency team to assess needs and coordinate with local partners. We are rushing emergency funding to organizations on the ground, supporting mobile medical teams in the hardest-hit areas, and coordinating critical medical supplies for frontline health workers. Americares stands ready to provide medicines, relief supplies and other aid to help people injured or displaced by this devastating crisis.
Drawing on our experience responding to major disasters in Nepal and around the world, Americares will assess evolving needs and identify where we can provide the greatest value. By supporting locally led recovery efforts, Americares aims to strengthen local capacity, restore essential health services and help communities build long-term community resilience.
