Thank you very much for your generous support of the 2014 Portland Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes event which was held on November 22, 2014. The event was a great success as 85 teams with more than 700 walkers raised over $160,000 to support the American Diabetes Associations mission to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. Your donations were part of this great achievement which will provide funding for diabetes research, advocacy and programs for the more than 345,000 living in our communities with diabetes.
Step Out moved to the Oregon Convention Center this year and was combined with our annual Diabetes Expo. The goal of Step Out is to raise awareness and funds for the mission of the American Diabetes Association while getting people to move their feet and show how walking is great fitness. For people with diabetes, exercise and diet plays an important role in managing their health.
In 2015 we must continue our work as 29.1 million with diabetes need our support. We are currently working to further align our Step Out event with our communities and outreach to make an even larger impact.
