The Oregon/SW Washington Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes raises over $141,000 in 2011 for diabetes research, advocacy and education.
Together, on Saturday, September 10th and 24th, over 750 walkers, 100 volunteers and our sponsors, helped the American Diabetes Association raise over $141,000 for diabetes research , advoacacy and education.
Highlights of 2011 include:
Safe At School Program: Offers knowledge, information and resources about type 1 diabetes and aspects of management for school personnel. We will visit over 135 schools and train over 1,000 school personnel throughout Oregon/SW Washington this year.
Annual Diabetes Practice Update: A continuing education program for health care prefessionals. On September 30, 2011, 391 health care professionals attended the 32nd Annual Diabetes Practice Update in Portland, Oregon.
Research: We currently fund three research projects in our area that total $1,196,753.
Our mission is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
