The robotics team from the Alpha Lumen Institute in Sao Jose dos Campos (SJC), Alphire, competes in the FTC, combining technique and social impact. Founded in 2024, it acts as an innovation lab with an emerging force in educational robotics, empowering young people in mechanics, management, and programming. With a methodology that focuses on hands-on learning and leadership development, where FIRST challenges become tools to unlock each student's potential and convert theoretical knowledge into
In Brazil, about 1.3 million teenagers are out of school and millions face learning delays, according to IBGE/Pnad Continua (2024). Dropout rates rise in high school, often due to lack of relevance between content and students' lives. Meanwhile, the tech sector grows, but access to quality training remains limited, increasing inequality and wasting talent that could transform communities.
The project connects youth to technology through robotics and programming, making learning practical and engaging. It works on three fronts: Education, with hands-on workshops; Inclusion, through STEAM Girls On Fire and support for minorities; and Expansion, via World in Flames, training mentors and new teams. It also promotes tech events linked to social and educational initiatives.
The project aims to be a benchmark in educational robotics, training young agents of transformation with a focus on inclusion and innovation. Longo Praco intends to reduce the gender gap in technology, expand access, and support the creation of new teams, including in developing countries such as Ghana. It also aims to train professionals with technical skills, critical thinking, and social awareness, prepared to face challenges and generate sustainable impact.
