As part of its Technology Education Program, Alpha Lumen held the 5th edition of “Science Days” which was a huge success. Thousands of students from public and private schools in the region visited the event, exceeding the organizing board's expectations. The “Science Days” show was promoted by Alpha Lumen Institute (IAL) and the Michaelis Foundation for Global Education and counted with the visit of the American consul in Brazil, Elmer EJ Richardson. The consul participated in the actions that strengthened the relations between Brazilian students and universities in the United States and visited the stands of the North American institutions that were there.
"Education is the best way to bring the two countries and their institutions closer together. The USA has several high-level educational institutions that can help both young Brazilians and the country itself", said the consul.
The “Science Days” also proved that science is on the rise among young people. The space for the lectures was always crowded and the participants' booths were repeatedly visited by students, eager to learn about the latest science and technology.
The “Science Show”, promoted by university students from the University of São Paulo (USP Guaratinguetá unit), the robotics stands from Alpha Lumen Institute and those dealing with astronomy caught most of the visitors' attention.
Also, the experiences with virtual reality, an astronomy observatory, and other toys and characters inside the “Science Days” only confirmed that the youngsters' connection with the scientific universe is more and more intense. So much so that characters from movie series, such as Star Wars and Transformers, were requested for photos and selfies among the participants.
The director and founder of the Alpha Lumen Institute, Nuricel Aguilera, celebrated the success of “Science Day”, which largely had the students and teachers of the IAL School Project themselves organizing the activities.
"We made an immersion in science and technology for all the students. We want to awaken vocations and give the possibility of contact with professionals and scientific entities of the highest level,” she said.
