Alpha Edtech - Social Code Academy

Remembering the project:

The Alpha EdTech Project seeks to train young people in technology, regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation or ethnicity, possibly in a vulnerable situation, providing access to opportunities for effective social mobility, through education aligned with the needs of IT professionals in companies .

The general objective is to generate social mobility, providing training opportunities for young talents (in vulnerable situations) interested in this area of professional relevance, specifically information technologies.

In recent months, the topics covered in classes for project development were:

In server classes, students learned fundamental concepts and techniques to understand how servers work and how to configure, maintain and interact with them in application development:

• What is a server. Introduction to the concept of a server, explaining its role as a system that manages and responds to requests from clients (e.g. browsers), providing data, web pages, files and other resources.

• Client-server architecture. Explanation of how servers communicate with clients (browsers, applications) on a network, exploring models such as HTTP/HTTPS, the protocols that govern these interactions and the request and response cycle.

• Types of servers. Students learned about different types of servers, such as web servers, database servers (MySQL, PostgreSQL), and application servers (Node.js, Django), each with their specific characteristics and uses.

• Server configuration and maintenance. Introduction to server installation, configuration and management practices, including how to adjust performance, security and backup parameters.

• Databases and integration with servers. How servers interact with databases to store and retrieve information, with a focus on connecting applications to database management systems.

• API Servers. Understanding how servers are used to provide APIs (Application Programming Interfaces), allowing communication between different parts of an application or with other services.
