Update from the Field and Donor Match Day July 15 !

By Barbara Rosasco | Secretary & Treasurer

Madam K
Madam K

On July 15 the Donor Match day will empower your kind donations,  giving them an  even greater impact so that we can continue helping the members of our program!

Update from the field...

When Mark goes to Cambodia he always schedules in-person  meetings with the participants in our program.

During Mark's May,2026  visit  he met with nearly all of the participants in the program, with the exception of two elderly members who live in the countryside and who are too frail to make the trip into Phnom Penh.

Our program participant list remains unchanged with a total of 24 people: 7 of whom are children age 6 to 16. The remaining members are adults, of whom  4 are age 75-85. We are not taking on any new participants in the program. Our participants receive food and  housing support  and where appropriate, medical support and  assistance with school fees and supplies  for children.

Our program costs remain stable, although  inflation is becoming more of an  issue for participants, as we have not raised monthly stipends since 2022 despite  a cumulative inflation rate increase of  about 18% since 2022.  Unfortunately,  it is likely that we will need to make an adjustment soon.  Our single highest level of support is $200 per month which is broken down at $50 for rent and $150 for food support for a family of 4 people.

ISupport for each program participant is reviewed at least twice  per year to determine who, if anyone , can survive without our assistance. For the elderly and frail, discontinuing support would be disasterous. For the remaining individuals, we continually assess the need for our support. For example,  Ms. K, has  two chidlren .Ms. K woks  7 days a week,  from 5pm to 10 pm collecting recyclable materials that she sells. She earns an estimated $ 3 to $ 5 per day.  She has two children, one is a teen age boy, who despite her best effors,  has recently  gone somewhat  " off the rails"  and  her other child , a son now age 6  accompanies her nightly. The money that we to supply to Ms. K   literally makes the difference to keep  her from becoming homeless.

We are deeply grateful to you all for your continued kindness and generosity.  It allows  people like Ms. K to keep her family together and avoid homelessness.

GlobalGiving will offer a Donor Match day on July 15 where donations from $ 100 ~ $2500 per unique donor per project are eligible for a donor match.

We are hopeful that you will join us on July 15  when your kind donations can have  an even greater impact so that we can continue helping the members of our program. We are truly their last resort.

Thank you,

Barbara & Mark Rosasco
