Middle of May 2021 thousand of families in the Democratic Republic of Congo Goma and its surrounding areas has left hundreds of displaced and panic-stricken citizens. Due to the Nyiragongo volcanic eruption and earthquakes, it has led to blocked evacuation roads and hundreds of deaths. Multiple people have been displaced ,no access to food or shelter. Children Hope Forever has organised itself to providing emergency fresh food, water, tarp shelters, blankets for 500 displaced families.
The Nyiragongo Volcano erupted 15 kilometres from Goma city which is a city with an estimated of 670,000 habitants. The eruption affected some neighbourhoods like KIBATI, BUHENE, etc leading to lost homes and physical material as well as lost relatives. The volcano is also creating earthquakes that create panic, blocked roads and massive evacuation of population to other surroundings rural areas. The earthquakes have destroyed home, schools, infrastructures leading to more homeless and helpless.
Professionals and volunteers of Children Hope forever will distribute foods and primary survival kits to victims of the Nyiragongo volcano eruption. Children Hope Forever will cooperate with local youth organizations and non-profit organizations to provide more foods, water, beds, torches, tents, facemasks etc. to the population in affected Neighbourhoods and its surroundings.500 families will benefit from urgent goods and services to help them survive during these harsh times.
With this project, Children Hope forever is willing to go a step further to collaborate with other organizations that will be willing to assist the victims of the Nyiragongo volcano eruption for more sustainable impact. This partnership will provide more sustainable help such as building homes for the homeless, providing health care to overcome this traumatizing experience, develop an entrepreneurial project , educate the young ones. this will improve their living standard.
