Project Report | Jun 20, 2024
Thank you for your support!

By Danylo Kapral | Fundraiser

Dear friends,

It has been four months since our last report, and we are now entering the summer of 2024. The war in Ukraine continues, and we persist in living and providing support to children with developmental difficulties amidst this severe crisis. The situation remains tense, the economic crisis deepens, but we do not lose hope and continue to work for our shared future. This is largely thanks to you, your support, and solidarity with the mission and passion of the Dzherelo Centre team, as well as the significant help from friends and benefactors from abroad.

From February until now, our project titled “Ukrainian impaired children need your support!” on the GlobalGiving platform has received 1125 USD. The funds were used to strengthen crisis response programs for the needs of children with developmental difficulties during the war. These programs are being implemented in the western regions of Ukraine, and over the past four months, more than 1200 children with difficulties and their families have been supported.

Specialists conducted needs assessments and developmental pre-screening for each child, identifying developmental risks and providing specialized services. The funds collected under the reporting project were used to purchase humanitarian kits for these families, including food, hygiene products, medicines, and other essential items according to the individual needs of each case. Parents received initial psychological consultations and referral services.

This summer, we are already working in a new reorganized format of the Centre for Social Services. The previous turbulence has settled, we were able to synchronize the team, train new specialists, and master a new format of work. Currently, we are helping about 3500 individuals of various categories each month. These include children and youth with disabilities, orphans, large and foster families, the homeless, victims of domestic violence, and people in difficult life circumstances. Thanks to coordinated efforts, we have been able to significantly improve our services and increase the number of people we assist.

The Centre for Assistive Technologies has already begun its work. We provide equipment assistance according to the project. People with disabilities receive necessary consultations and assistive technologies, including wheelchairs, walkers, and communication devices such as eye trackers, hearing aids, and more. This Centre serves over 100 children with disabilities each month, providing services such as needs assessments, selection, adaptation, and repair of equipment.

Our contact centrer for people in distress continues to operate, handling about 100 requests per month. Since February, we have helped about 400 people with food packages, personal hygiene items, and social services. Many families with young children, as well as people with disabilities, turn to us for help, and we are always ready to support them in difficult times.

Despite significant challenges, the war, and the crisis, Dzherelo continues to grow, provide new services, advocate for legislative changes regarding inclusivity and accessibility of social services, and help people in need. This is a great responsibility, as the Centre now cares not only for people with disabilities but also for orphans, large families, the homeless, victims of domestic violence, lonely pensioners, and people in difficult life circumstances. However, we are ready for this challenge and confidently take on new responsibilities, knowing that with your support, Dzherelo Centre will continue to provide the necessary help to those who need it.

Once again, we sincerely thank you for your support and care, which warms our hearts and inspires us to continue working with faith in a free and peaceful Ukraine, where every child has a chance for a full life.

Let us stay together on the path to victory, praying and believing in God’s miracle!

Thank you for being with us!
