Improve Livelihoods of 225 HIV-affected families

By Lucy Mathenge | Project Assistant

Our beneficiaries are proceeding on well and we have been visiting some of them and they appreciate the support given to them.  They are happy that the weather has really improved and favoured them in terms of crops production.  We have been involving them in trainings so as to build their capacities in crop production, agribusiness and general management.  We have been involving them in these trainings whenever we have them so that they also benefit and they have been very positive on the same.  Currently they have harvested some of their crops and they still have more in their farms.  It has been raining so they are planting new short term crops.  Water harvesting challenge has not been successful as they have not managed to raise funds to improve the situation.  At the moment they are practicing simple ground water harvesting and roof water harvesting since they lack proper equipment for better results.  We will continue working with them to identify how we can improve the situation with the little they have as we continue fundraising for the same.  As we conclude the challenging year, we remain optimistic that the situation will improve next year and since business and other sectors were affected by the elections, we  hope next year will be successful we thank God and all supporters for this far we have come and together we will go far.
