Improve Livelihoods of 225 HIV-Affected Families

By Lucy Mathenge | Project Manager

Farmers have reasons to smile as they have enjoying the fruits of their sweat.  They have worked tirelessly in their farms and taking advantage of the favorable weather conditions in most parts of the country although in other parts it has not been the same case.  In some parts of our country it has been extremely dry and many families have nothing to put on their tables.  It is very unfortunate for those families and our farmers from areas where they have plenty of farm yields feels that government should intervene to assist them distribute food to such areas where people are sleeping hungry.  Our farmers’ groups have been delivering food in our offices requesting us to consider distributing them to the neighboring Baringo County and especially Kokwa Island where many families are spending days and nights without any meal.  In early July, we distributed potatoes, vegetables and maize flour to the Kokwa community.  Most of these food were donated by our farmers from Molo.  On the other hand, our beneficiaries in this project were not left behind and they as well donated some food to the needy community.  They really felt good for touching other people’s lives despite them feeling that may be less privileged but with this gesture, they feel proud.  We appreciated their efforts and we always encourage them to consider giving back to the communities once they are in a position to do so.  It is still raining in this area and our farmers are busy in their farms harvesting and planting new crops.  Our beneficiaries have informed us that they have enough planting materials at the moment and still enjoying income from their farm produce.  They express their gratitude to all who have supported their project and transforming their lives.  Earlier on they requested support on water harvesting structures in their farms to tap rain water during rainy seasons and use the water during dry spell. They have reminded us on this support and we will embark on fundraising when economic status improves in most parts of the world.  We welcome our friends, well-wishers and donors to put their requests in considerations and support them in any way possible.  Thank you so much for your generous support.
