Throughout the last school term, PHBGTU teachers and volunteers continued running our much-loved after-school Coconut Club for the children who live at the school, many of whom are orphans or come from families unable to care for them full-time. For these children, Coconut Club is far more than an activity programme; it is a safe, supportive, and nurturing space where they feel valued, encouraged, and cared for. Living away from home can be challenging, and our teachers play an important role in providing emotional support, guidance, and stability. Whether students are feeling overwhelmed, worried, or simply need someone to talk to, Coconut Club offers comfort and a strong sense of belonging.
The club is filled with laughter, creativity, and learning. Arts and crafts sessions are especially popular with the children. Last term, our talented students created beautiful flowers from paper and straws, painted nature scenes onto plates, and were thrilled to experiment with painting on canvas frames for the first time. They also continued to enjoy indoor games such as number bingo and Uno, cooking activities, and many other creative projects. Outside, the children enjoyed playing badminton and skateboarding. Thanks to donations that allow us to offer all of these activities, the students are building confidence, friendships, and self-esteem.
One of the highlights of the term was a wonderful party organised by the team from the Hyatt Regency Phuket Resort on the school grounds. The afternoon was full of excitement and laughter as the children took part in fun party games and activities. They enjoyed delicious snacks and, thanks to generous friends of the foundation, each child was also able to choose gifts including school supplies, small toys, and pre-loved clothing.
Moments like these create joyful memories for children who often face significant challenges in their daily lives. They also remind the children that there are people who care deeply about their wellbeing and future. Thank you for standing with us and helping us continue creating meaningful, lasting change in the lives of vulnerable children. Your support makes these experiences, opportunities, and moments of happiness possible.
