UPDATE: STEM Summer Bootcamp for girls in Nigeria

We would like to say a big THANK YOU for your generous contribution towards our project to organise a STEM Summer bootcamp for 100 girls in Nigeria.

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown and security unrest in Nigeria at this time which has affected school calendar & holiday, we are unable to host the bootcamp this year as initially planned and have made the decision to postpone the bootcamp till next year.

In the meantime, we have continued to impact girls and women through other programs with the aim of increasing their enthusiasm in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) field.

On the 7th of July, we hosted a beginner website development training for post-secondary / university students and young professionals to learn the basics of website design using HTML and CSS. We have also continued to host #IamRemarkable sessions monthly. It is a Google initiative to empower women and underrepresented groups to speak openly about their accomplishments in the workplace and beyond, breaking modesty norms and glass ceilings.

In September, we launched our first product, the STEM @ Home kit designed for teens and preteens (age 10+) to help learn and apply science and technology at home through experiential learning. Through the kits, the kids get the opportunity to learn how to make their own lip balm  and build a robotic prosthetic arm.

The product aims to help kids learn at home without any boundaries like power and internet access, especially with recent adaptation to hybrid/remote learning. We plan to make this product accessible to everyone by donating a kit to kids from low income backgrounds. Please visit the link Provide STEM @ Home kits for underprivileged girlson GlobalGiving for more details.

So far, we have been able to raise $1819 out of the total goal of $7,745 for this project and this will sponsor 22 girls. We would really appreciate it if you would consider telling your friends and family about our project by sharingthis link to our GlobalGiving project on social media, or just bring us up in conversation! This will go a long way in helping us successfully execute this project and reach our target number of 100 girls.

We appreciate your support and will continue to keep you updated on our events and activities as they unfold. Thank you.
