We are excited to share our newest project at Kanyelele School: the construction of a girls’ dormitory compound that will dramatically improve access to education in this rural community. Our local district partner identified an urgent need for safe, on-campus housing for girls who currently walk two to three hours each way to attend school. Many of these students are so deeply committed to their education that they sleep on classroom floors during the week in order to keep up with their studies.
Scattergood Design architects are thoughtfully designing the new dormitory compound-- an innovative, sustainable space that supports both learning and well-being. Construction is planned to begin in early 2026 and will include a girls’ dormitory, showers and composting toilets, a residence for the dorm mother, a dining hall, and a kitchen.
We have recently completed a deep well at the school. This vital resource will provide clean water not only for Kanyelele School, but also for a neighboring primary school and the surrounding community.
We are deeply grateful for your support. You make projects like this possible and help create lasting change in the lives of these girls.
Asanteni kwa urafiki wako! Thank you for your friendship.
