With the beginning of the second semester, students at Milembe Secondary are hard at work studying for their national exams. We are so pleased to report that the dormitory has had a positive impact on the girls’ success! In rural Tanzania, girls have less time for schoolwork when living at home where they are expected to do the household chores and care for younger siblings. At the dormitory the girls are able to focus on school. As one student said: “Living on campus has changed our lives. We are now getting Division 1 and 2 on our national exams [the highest grades], because we can focus on our studies.” At Milembe, the girls living in the dorm consistently receive the highest exam scores. The Form 4 students recently took a Regional Mock exam and the top ten students all lived on campus. We are so proud of them! Their dedication and hard work are paying off and the opportunity to study is life changing!
We wish this success for all girls! We are so thankful for all of your support in making the Milembe Dormitory Compound a reality. With your help, we are positively impacting the lives of so many girls! Our dream is for all Tanzania girls to receive these opportunities to succeed.
