Milembe Dormitory Compound Complete!

Sitting in the new dorm room!

We did it!!!

With your support, the Africa Schoolhouse team has completed the dormitory compound at Milembe Secondary School!

Three weeks ago, girls moved into the dormitory and are now living in safe space, eating in the dining hall, doing homework together, and focusing on their education. Girls face such a difficult road to complete their education in Tanzania. Living at the Milembe dormitory compound is boosting their success!

Two Dorm Mothers, or “Matrons” as they are called in Tanzania, are living in the house next to the dormitory, caring for the girls and making sure they are transitioning well to their life at the new compound. Two head girls, also students, live in the dorm helping the other girls almost as “big sisters.” Life at the compound revolves around the school day with delicious meals prepared by two cooks using a newly fabricated propane cooking system.

The girls are enjoying life at the dormitory compound. Paschazia said "I now have more time for learning and studying. I am so excited to be living here in one of the dorm rooms." We can't wait to share more of their stories with you!

We are cheering on the girls’ success as we begin our research for the next project. Stay tuned for more news-- we hope to build more dormitory compounds and empower even more girls!

We could not have done it without you! We are so grateful for all you have done to support girls’ education. You have helped to positively impact so many lives!
