Street harassment remains the main problem preventing girls and women to enjoy their basic right to access public places, recreation and assembly. Strictly considering the context and cultural values, CPD has been thinking of initiatives to intervene at the very community level to address mentioned problem. Partnership with GlobalGiving for this project was also part of this thought to use crowd-funding platforms for channeling valued contributions of those, who cordially believe in this noble cause. Critical thinking resulted in mobilization of resources to plan a professional girls’ volleyball tournament, which was finally organized in September 2017 with key lessons learned for further replication. In late 2016, we changed the project from being a one-time event into a continuous process to focus on organizing several tournaments for years to come. All these are assisting us to plan the second tournament to be organized in 2018. Of course, this is happened, when the global donor community is generously contributing to this project and we are enthusiastic to be able to raise resources enough to step forward.
