Slight change of approach

By Juan José Lagos | Project Leader

After further consideration, the Honduran Alzheimer’s Association and the Asociación Mano Amiga (who owns and runs the adult day center) have decided that the best use of our financial support is to provide subsidies for low income patients.  We are now in the process of determining how to best implement this new approach.  The most feasible idea is that patients needing financial assistance will visit the social worker at the Memory Clinic in Tegucigalpa’s public teaching hospital Hospital Escuela.  After assessing the family situation, the social worker will recommend an affordable payment level and the Association will reimburse the Day Care Center the remainder of the fee.  The Association hopes to eventually provide full subsidies. By providing this financial support, the Association will reach a population of care-giving families that have never had access to respite services.  Thank you for your continued support!
