The past few months have been spent on 2 main tasks: 1) finding an appropriate space for the Adult Day Center and 2) recruiting possible staff members. Finding a site has been a challenge, since we will initially rent space and want to do so in a safe area of Tegucigalpa. We have visited 2 sites and will continue looking to find an appropriate space. As for staff, we have identified a functional therapist who is interested in providing hourly services to our participants. We will continue searching for qualified staff members and provide them training on best practices in dementia care. In addition to fundraising on the GlobalGiving site, we are receiving donations from Honduran families and businesses in support of the Adult Day center.
