Dear Fundación Dones de Misericordia Family,
As the Holiday Season approaches, we would like to share the latest news and express our gratitude for your continued support. It has been a few months since we opened the only early childhood center in Tierra Bomba Island “El Rincón de los Dones''! The teamwork done by volunteers, visitors, and Tierra Bomba natives could not be done without your help.
The center provides care to 280 children from the island between the ages of 2 to 6 from 7:30 AM to 4 PM by giving them delicious and healthy meals and snacks. The team of professionals and caregivers are focusing on addressing specific needs by engaging the children in activities to develop and strengthen their emotional skills and problem-solving skills.
We are also developing partnerships with other communities in the Cartagena area such as obtaining healthy vegetables from farmers from the Montes de Maria, hammocks from the Morruanos, and with The Marine Mammal Center from California with quarterly events that promote strategies to take care of the ocean with the “Heroes of the Ocean” campaign.
The work completed at “El Rincón de Los Dones” is complemented by the Saturday activities being done at “El Kiosko de los Dones” where 300 children enjoy the energy of a dedicated team of volunteers that provide healthy snacks and activities in partnership with experts who work in vulnerable populations such as “La Carreta Literaria” which brings storytelling time and motivate kids to read and allow their imagination to fly.
We wish for you to begin this Holiday Season in the company of your family and friends and that you continue being healthy and happy surrounded by love and peace. Your monthly donations or one-time donations mean the world to our children whose future changes with our actions of care, compassion, and love every day.
Warm Regards,
Fundación Dones de Misericordia
