Hello friends of GlobalGiving, it is with love and respect that we would like to share with you everything that our Fundación Dones de Misericordia has been doing to support the education of children and adolescents, the empowerment of mothers who are head of the family, and the eradication of extreme poverty on the Island of Tierra Bomba. Below please refer to the progress we have made:
We would like to thank you of your donations, because with them you have helped fulfill many dreams. The Kiosko de los Dones, during these 15 years, has become the favorite place of children, adolescents and their families, because there they find hope to change their reality that is full of need.
In these past few months we have strengthened the education of approximately 600 children through the complementary day, providing them with food and educational support. Additionally, we gather them on Saturdays which we call “Peace Saturdays”, during this time we strengthen their values through sports and with recreational activities that help them discover their skills and talents.
Additionally, women have been receiving different trainings through which they empower themselves and learn how to make products that can be sold, thus forming micro-businesses to fulfill their needs, helping them out of the extreme poverty in which they have been in for many years.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
