During this period (August to October 2017), a total of US$713.27 (via the GlobalGiving website from 14 donations, six of them recurring, many thanks for the continued support). All your donations and giving this coral species a chance.

Coral nursery activities conducted during this period include:

Nursery Location: Palmar de Ocoa

Last Monitoring Visit: August 27th

Status: 4 ladder-style rope nurseries were installed July 2016, in replacement of the previous nursery on site that was destroyed by a storm on January. Fragments still alive and are growing healthy.

A second visit was conducted on October 20th, to collect coral fragments from this nursery to install in new coral nursery in Pedernales, see below

Nursery Location: Luperón

Last Monitoring Visit: September 17th

Status: Coralcolonies are growing on the frame nurseries at this site. Sedimentation one day limited work on the nursery, next day was better and work was completed.

Nursery Location: Las Galeras

Last Monitoring Visit: September 24th

Status: A. cervicornis colonies are growing at a steady rate on the frame nurseries at Las Galeras. Good water flow and constant presence from the local Dive Center is vital to this end.

Nursery Location: Pedernales

Last Monitoring Visit: October 21st

Status: A new coral nursery was installed in this location in SW Dominican Republic consisting of 2 metal frames. This new coral nursery was supported by EGE Haina, a local power company using wind mills in this region.
